Kate joined Dundalk Institute of Technology lecturing staff in 2012. Prior to this, she held a lecturing position in the University of Ulster, School of European Business and has also worked as a research manager and freelance research consultant.
Kate lectures across a number of undergraduate and post graduate degree programs in DkIT and teaches in the areas of new product development, economics, management and marketing. She also supervises a number of post-graduate research students at Masters and PhD level in the area of entrepreneurship, funding strategies and the application of AI in education. Along with her post-graduate students, she regularly contributes to a number of academic journals and conferences and has published in journals such as the International Journal of Management and Applied Research, The International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development and the Irish Journal of Management. She is a board member of the Int. Conference on Entrepreneurship and Innovation and in 2021 she was nominated for a Teaching Hero Award and received the Irish Research Council Research Ally Prize Award in 2020.
